Teaching Robin the importance of redundancy

As promised in the last post, here is a video of Robin signing "more". Yes, I do realize the irony that as soon as she learned to sign that she wants more food, she can now SAY more too. But I think that's good for Daddy if nothing else. Sometimes, Daddy's thick head doesn't quite clue in to what she wants, and needs both the verbal AND visual clues. For example, saying "I'm hungry" may not get Daddy's attention, but saying "I'm hungry" while mashing a sign in Daddy's face will.

Robin has a special sign for food that's "good" which she uses here. It's supposed to be a baby sign where your palm goes up from your chest to your throat, signifying the welling up of good feelings. But Robin more or less scratches her chest like a monkey. It's very cute.

As a final update, Robin has a molar coming in! It's just a little nub in the back right of her mouth.

5th tooth, 3rd Floor, 2nd Hallowe'en, and More

As always, our little monkey girl just keeps on trucking along with her "achievements". Here's the latest:
  • She now has 5th tooth! Well, there's a little white smidgen on its way out, just to the right (looking at her) of her two top teeth. I'm not sure what the average age per tooth is, but I think her teeth have been slow going.
  • She walks exclusively now, will much less falling.
  • She is becoming more possessive about her "belongings".
  • If you act sad and pretend to cry, she will come up to you and give you a hug.
  • She has become pickier about her foods, but Daddy can still sneak in some greens along with the tasty tasty bread
  • A few new words have popped up: "Sue" means soother, "bye bye", and "more"
On very useful and interesting thing we've taught her is "more". There's a sign language sign for it where you hold your hands in front of yourself as if you are pinching something, and then bring them together. Robin, like her other signs, does things her own way. She points her index fingers together like she's breaching an electrical junction. It's really cute (I'll try to get a video of this up in the next week or so.)

Even cuter though, is Robin in her Hallowe'en outfit. Too cute. Check it out.
