I've been back to work for almost 2 months now. Robin is enjoying her daycare with Flora. When I first brought her, she would cry and Flora would distract her to get her to stop (and man is Flora ever good at distractions!) Now, she doesn't want to leave... sniff. I'm not worried though. When I get there to pick her up at the end of the day I see the BIGGEST smile ever! But then she just wants to go back and play with the toys.
Looking for daycare in the first place was daunting. You always hear the stories of people signing up their kids for daycare when they find out they're pregnant. So I snapped up Flora's part-time daycare offer as soon as I could. The reason we were able to only use Flora's 2 days a week is that my Mom also offered to be a nanny for 2 days a week. Robin loves Ba'cha (a shortened version of the polish word for Grandma). Ba'cha loves Robin. It's a mutual relationship. Mom, we are truly grateful.
Robin has been able to spend a lot of time with her other Grandparents too, Jen's parents. We've managed to make a fair amount of trips out to the lake at the Potters' cabin in Falcon. It's nice to get out of the city, suck down a brewsky (or a milksky) and get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Robin even had some good ol' diaper time at the beach.
(You thought my diaper was heavy before? Here's an experiment for you Daddy: how many litres of this mud puddle can I sop up?)Janet is just as in love with Robin as my Mom. And Robin has made Greg do goofy things I never thought I'd see. It's nice to have doting Grandparents.
Thinking about Robin's Grandparents obviously makes me think of my late Dad. It's hard to think about sometimes because of how much I miss him, but I want to make sure we always remember, love and honour him. Robin did get to meet him, but she'll be too young to remember. I was able to see how he was with Lisa, and I know he would have been one heck of a Grandparent to Robin. We were able to let Dad's ashes go in Caddy Lake, and I'm glad Robin was able to be a part of that. Robin, when you get older, we'll tell you all about Grandpa Cumming.
So as life moves along, I really am realizing how fast time flies by. We'll make darn sure to suck in all the great moments with Robin. Like today, when Jen dressed her up in a dog costume she got for her for Hallowe'en. Hi-freakin-larious (I'll upload it soon... whenever we find the downloading cord for the camera.)
